Selena Gomez took Paris Fashion Week by storm, and her fashion choices have been nothing short of inspirational. From elegant white shirt dresses to daring thigh-high patent stiletto boots, she has left her mark on the fashion capital. Animal print maxi dresses, peekaboo culottes, and even icy blue eyeshadow have all graced her iconic Parisian appearances.
However, one showstopper that has captured our attention is the remarkable “Rosebud Bun” hairstyle, expertly crafted by celebrity hair stylist Dom Seeley. He has been Selena Gomez‘s go-to mane magician throughout her Paris Fashion Week journey. The name “Rosebud Bun” is aptly chosen as the intricate twists in the hairstyle resemble delicate flower petals, while the perfectly styled hairline adds a touch of cool sophistication.
A closer look from the back raises the question: is this hairstyle inspired by the watercolor flower tattoo adorning the base of Selena’s neck, or is it simply a testament to the next-level coordination between her hair and her body art?
Glamour UK caught up with Seeley to delve deeper into the details. “The brief was to create a romantic look, but we had to ensure it didn’t venture into ‘wedding’ territory; it had to stay firmly rooted in the world of fashion,” he revealed. “The shape of the hairstyle was crucial; we didn’t want a typical ballerina bun or something overly simplistic. Instead, we aimed for a style reminiscent of Moulin Rouge or Burlesque,” he added.
To recreate this captivating look, Seeley shared his insights: “Begin by blow-drying the hair in the direction of the bun’s position to achieve a sleek and polished base. Gather the hair into a high ponytail, brushing it back to sit just below the crown of the head. Once the ponytail is secure, start twisting the hair, adding dimension and texture, and secure it with pins as you go.”

He continued, “The bun’s shape should appear round and prominent in the front, while at the back, it cascades closer to the head, creating folds and intricate detailing to add depth and a touch of high fashion.”
After setting the hairstyle, Seeley meticulously shaped the baby hairs and refined the hairline, possibly using ColorWow Pop & Lock High Gloss to ensure the baby hairs stayed in place and added a glossy finish. “I aimed for a feminine and delicate hairline, not too bold, allowing the bun to take center stage,” he disclosed.
The result? A Selena Gomez-worthy updo that reinvents the classic ballerina bun with a fresh twist, exuding sheer elegance.
To complete the look, Selena opted for a romantic red velvet makeup style, courtesy of makeup artist Avia Solomon. She used Rare Beauty products to create a striking red lip, possibly utilizing the Lip Souffle in Inspire for that irresistible allure. Paris Fashion Week witnessed Selena Gomez at her best, showcasing her unmatched style and beauty.
